Step 5

Schedule your onboarding call

During your first call, we will discuss the following items.

Please watch these short videos from the Rockstar Connect Academy so that you can make the most of your call with our team.

Name the Group

It is essential that you choose a good name for your community. You want something that catches the eye and gets people excited to attend. While there are some basic rules to follow, not every market or group will respond to the same things. You need to know who you want to be at your events, who you want to connect with, and what target markets or geographical areas are of interest to them.

Good names should be clear for users. What is the point of your group? Who is it of interest to? Where do these people live and work?

Your Success Coach will work with you to pick a great name, so think of a few before your call.

When and Where Your Event will be

Now that you know WHO, you need to know WHERE! There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a venue. You need to find a balance of convenience, quality, size, time, and amenities that work for you, your target attendees, and for your event.

Balance these when finding your event, remember that you can always choose a new venue if your initial choice doesn't work out.

Our venue team considers all of the following things when we choose a venue.

Convenience

Geography - Be centrally located for your target area.

Parking - Choose somewhere with cheap or no cost parking.

Easy to locate - Be visible from a major thoroughfare.

Quality

Furnishings - Convey success and professionalism. You don't need a walnut paneled room, but a seedy motel probably won't make you look your best.

Size

Appropriate for your RSVPs - Remember that some RSVPs will not attend, but you can still use these to gauge whether your venue is appropriate.

Too small is better than too big - Psychologically, a small group in a large room can make your event seem unsuccessful, even when well attended!

Time

Set-up and breakdown - Booking your event should include the set-up and breakdown time. If you need help setting up from staff, make sure to let them know in advance so that they have appropriate help available.

Rockstar Connect should take care of your scheduling, but it's good to keep one eye on a clock.

We strongly suggest arriving at least half an hour before the start of your event.

Amenities

Furnishings - Tables, chairs, and other furniture should be looked at and adjusted as necessary. Too many tables is worse than too few.

Tableware - Check to ensure that the plates and utensils are appropriate for your small plate foods.

Staffing

Venue contact - We will ensure that you have a good contact name and number, your venue should always have an easily accessible manager

Tip waitstaff - It is suggested that you tip your staff before your event to show your respect for their contribution. Happy waitstaff is effective waitstaff.
